COMF 770 Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning 1

This course consists of didactic instruction in the systematic compilation and organization of case findings followed by the formulation of a properly sequenced comprehensive treatment plan. Up to seven examinations consisting of a two-hour treatment planning exercise are administered. Residents receive photos, radiographs and printed information for actual multidisciplinary cases and independently formulate a diagnoses, as well as phased treatment plans for each case. The objective is to enable the resident to comprehensively diagnose and plan treatment for complex cases that fall within the realm of general dentistry to support provision of care that optimizes function, comfort and esthetics. In addition, each resident will be given a comprehensive oral exam covering all disciplines in dentistry, at the end of first and second year, and will present initial, update, and final presentations for one multidiscipline cases throughout the program.
