DNTA 1201 Foundations of Dental Assisting

This foundational course prepares students for clinical dental settings through lectures, discussions, and hands-on learning with anatomical models. Key topics include oral anatomy (with emphasis on tooth identification), managing medical emergencies and oral conditions, infection control and aseptic techniques, dental treatment room setup and equipment operation, Team-STEPPS for safety, and identification of dental instruments and handpieces. Students will develop essential skills for basic dental duties and assisting dental providers, reinforced by readings, written work, and practical assessments.
