DNTA 1311 Dental Science
This course provides a foundational understanding of human physiology, with a specific focus on the major structures and functions of the head, including the salivary glands, tongue, and oral mucosa. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of the pathology and treatment of various tooth related diseases, injuries, and conditions, as well as common oral diseases, injuries, and conditions. The curriculum delves into dental terminology, covering terms related to dentition and the characteristics of teeth and their component parts. A significant portion of the course is dedicated to dental charting and recording, including the utilization of standard symbols to annotate existing tooth restorations and conditions. Students will learn to describe the process of conducting and recording dental exams and will develop practical skills in performing dental record reviews for accuracy and completeness, culminating in the ability to complete a dental exam form with proper charting.
