MPO 547 Integrated Primary Care

This course is designed as an introduction to the field of integrated primary care and models for integration. Integrating behavioral health providers into primary care clinics provides a population health perspective for targeting behavioral health concerns. This course will focus on providing the rationale for integration and developing fundamental skills necessary to integrate behavioral health into primary care environments. Students will learn skills for screening and assessing behavioral health problems. Ethical and cultural and diversity factors will be integrated throughout our coverage of topics during the course. By the end of the course attendees will be able to: 1) Describe the foundational constructs related to the purpose of integrated primary care; 2) Describe the models of providing integrated behavioral health care in primary care; 3)Conduct an assessment of a behavioral health problem using the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model of integrated primary care; 4) Develop a behavioral health intervention consistent with the PCBH model.
