NURS 8882 Proposal Development and Grantsmanship

The course focuses on the grant writing process and the principles of grant funding from various federal, military agencies and other funding sources. The grant proposal essential components will be addressed. Doctoral students will develop skills in grantsmanship and learn grant writing strategies to be competitive for external research funding. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 type grant proposal will be developed for a research problem/research question based on the health-related research mission of the NIH. Evaluation and Core-review criteria: significance, innovation, approach, and environment will be used to assess scientific merit for the written critiques and presentations during the peer review of students’ grant applications.
