NURS 8885 Principles of Scholarly Writing

This course is designed to foster development of scholarly writing and presentation skills. In this course, students will explore elements of professional writing, writing for publication, and the art of presentations. Seminar topics include topic selection, searching the literature, analyzing and critiquing research studies, the publishing process, responsibilities of authors, journal selection, author guidelines, writing strategies, and making successful oral and poster presentations. Students will develop a well-organized, concise, and scholarly literature review paper in their research area. They will identify the purpose of the paper, provide the background and significance of the problem, organization of the review, and synthesize and critically analyze the literature.
