ORPT 792 Orthodontic and Orthopedic Appliance Design
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge of fixed and removable appliances designed for limited treatment objectives. The design and management of each type of appliance is studied in lectures and seminars. Laboratory exercises include the fabrication of select orthodontic appliances. Indications for the use of various appliances, as well as the complex array of subsets of each type, are demonstrated and analyzed. Special emphasis is given to the design of an appliance and the purpose of its individual components rather than to the name alone. This course is continued in the second semester.
