NURS 5540 Advanced Trauma and Crisis Response for APRNs

This course develops advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, intervention and psychological response skills for Advanced Practice Registered Nursing students to prepare them to deliver care in operational, austere, or humanitarian environments. Students are taught to use advanced diagnostic tools and to integrate Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), and Psychological First Aid (PFA) concepts to assess, stabilize, and manage injured or psychologically affected individuals. Emphasis is placed on rapid assessment, evidence-based decision-making, interprofessional communication, and readiness to provide trauma-informed care in dynamic operational settings.
