SUR 4450 Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU) Sub-Internship

The purpose of this elective rotation is to provide experience in the practice of burn surgery in the critical care environment.  Students will gain experience with the evaluation, medical and surgical management of burns. This includes participation in the total care of burn patients, involving invasive monitoring, fluid resuscitation, metabolic/nutritional support, and surgical therapy of wounds. The goal of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to experience this specialty in preparation for internship and residency.
