NURS 7211 Psychopharmacology III
This course provides students with the psychopharmacology knowledge necessary to become a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. It builds on prior courses taught in the nurse practitioner program, such as core pharmacology, health assessment, physiology and pathophysiology, and mental health content. The focus is on medications used to treat ADHD, neurocognitive disorders, and pediatric psychiatric illnesses and disorders. Students will learn how to apply psychopharmacologic principles to a variety of chronic and acute psychiatric and medical clinical conditions, as well as synthesize evidence-based psychopharmacological treatments for mental health issues that are related to operational, humanitarian, and homeland defense health risks.
