NURS 7222 Treatment of Substance Abuse Disorders Across the Lifespan
This course is designed to teach students about substance abuse treatment theory and give them the opportunity to apply the principles of advanced practice psychiatric nursing in a substance abuse treatment facility. The clinical components are based off of the expected competencies for advanced practice nurses in psychiatric mental health nursing outlined by the American Nurses Association and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties. Throughout the course, the student will use a problem-solving framework to analyze multiple variables in mental health and illness and determine the best psychiatric care for individuals in substance abuse treatment settings.
