PSY 4345 Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)/Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Elective
Students learn about providing psychiatric care in a Psychiatric Intensive Outpatient (IOP)/Partial Hospitalization Program. They will perform initial intake assessments, obtain collateral information, and participate in group, individual, and team assessments and therapy, devise management plans, and follow ongoing treatment progress under indirect faculty supervision. This rotation emphasizes modes of assessment, intervention, psychotherapy and pharmacology. Trauma-focused programs are also available. This rotation allows one student/rotation, with some rotations not being available.
Prerequisite
This course can only be taken AFTER completion of the Psychiatry Clerkship (PSY 3200). This course occurs during the clerkship and 4th year. 4th year students will be given more responsibility and independence than students on this rotation in the clerkship year.
