DNTA 1411 Dental Science
This course provides foundational knowledge crucial for a successful career in dental assisting. The curriculum emphasizes professional standards and ethics, personal hygiene, and the profound effects of diet and nutrition on dental health. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of dental clinic emergencies, including step-by-step procedures for managing syncope and the proper operation and maintenance of oxygen equipment. A practical component focuses on accurately measuring and recording vital signs, and students will achieve proficiency in Basic Life Support (BLS) according to American Red Cross standards. Furthermore, the course delves into essential scientific principles, covering elementary physiology, head and neck anatomy and physiology, tooth morphology and anatomy, and periodontal anatomy. Finally, students will learn about the mechanisms of plaque formation, the progression of periodontal diseases, common oral pathologies, and various dental anomalies.
