NURS 5120 Global Perspectives Seminar in Complex Healthcare Systems I
This is the first in a two-course series using a case-based approach to improve healthcare and healthcare outcomes through collaboration and critical thinking. Students are asked to apply quality improvement principles to complex challenges and integrate information from disciplines such as reflection, policy, ethics, economics, leadership, roles, systems, and population health and evaluate the quality, safety, readiness, and cost-effectiveness of care in advanced practice nursing through the application of the Quadruple Aim. Using the three domains of High Reliability Organizations (HROs), students develop collaborative and interprofessional skills to address healthcare issues, formulate strategies and make recommendations to integrate nursing science with theoretical elements. By the end of this course, students will have foundational knowledge of the impact of these disciplines on healthcare and be prepared to apply them in the complex healthcare environment in the second course.
