NURS 5402 Operational Readiness: Military Cold Weather/Avalanche
Students will apply core mountaineering and wilderness medicine skills learned in M3C to a cold weather/snow/ice environment. Students will learn the evaluation and treatment of injuries associated with cold weather, basic mountaineering in ice environments, high and low angle patient transport, prolonged cold weather field care, and basic cold weather survival skills with generalized self-awareness of stressors associated with cold weather environments. Students may also complete the AIARE Level 1 Avalanche rescue course. In addition to M3C, this course will fulfill requirements for the Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM).
