HCB 2302 Foundational Patient Care
This course provides students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills necessary to assess and manage patients in emergency medical situations. The course emphasizes hands-on training and competency in critical life-saving interventions. Topics include airway management (including basic maneuvers, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal airway insertion, suctioning, maintaining artificial airways, and cricothyroidotomy), respiratory emergencies (including assessment, oxygen therapy, bag-valve-mask ventilation, chest seal application, and needle decompression), musculoskeletal and spinal injuries (including assessment, treatment assistance, splint application), and dental emergencies. Students will also learn how to place patients in the recovery position. This course prepares students for entry-level roles in emergency medical services and related healthcare settings.
