SUR 4660 Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery helps restore form and function for patients, and is a rewarding practice of medicine as it significantly improves the quality of patients’ lives. Plastic surgeons also assist other services for wound healing challenges and frequently work with many other specialties in a multidisciplinary fashion. Plastic surgery includes craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, cancer reconstruction, burn and wound management as well as cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgeons operate on all parts of the body and care for patients of all ages from newborn to geriatric patients. Students learn about a variety of reconstructive surgeries to treat diverse conditions, and will come away with enhanced understanding of wound healing and surgical techniques.
