MLTS 1405 Clinical Chemistry II
This course provides a continuation of clinical chemistry principles with an emphasis on specialized physiological systems and complex analytical methodologies. Students study the critical role of electrolytes, the renal system, and acid-base balance in maintaining human homeostasis. The curriculum expands into additional clinical chemistries, including cardiac markers, special chemistry testing, and the analysis of non-blood body fluids. Further instruction is provided on endocrinology, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), and toxicology. The course concludes with an introductory overview of the clinical significance of vitamins, minerals, and tumor markers, ensuring students can correlate laboratory data with a wide range of diagnostic categories.
